Recently, my friend J.C. took one of her cable boxes in because it hasn't worked in quite awhile. Between raising 2 children and running a company with her husband, the woman is one busy Texan. She could have chosen to spend countless hours on the phone trying in vain to get through to someone in repair at the cable company, but in an effort to cut out the hassle of the middleman thought it would be easier to just drop it off at the local cable office. This is what happened when she did just that:
JC: "Hi! I'm dropping off this cable box for repair."
Receptionist: "What's wrong with it?"
JC: "I'm not sure what's wrong with it, but it hasn't worked in 2 months. This is the first chance I've had to bring it in."
Receptionist: "Did you try calling customer service about this problem 2 months ago, and every day after?"
JC: "Two months ago and EVERY. DAY. AFTER.?"
Receptionist: (refusing to acknowledge the absurdity of such a question) "Yes."

I'm curious to know if the stupid beyotch at Comcast uses that as a standard question for everyone that comes to her counter, and if she went to the Bad Customer Service University, like so many others that are out there.
What came after the "Yes."?? Did J.C. give her the one-two punch? Did she ask for a manager? Did she just shake her head and storm out, yelling "GOOD DAY, SIR!!!!"?
Two months and calling every day after??? Was she even listening to herself? Why oh why is it socially inacceptable to beat people to their senses when they come back with such a reply? And I thought customer service was null and void in Germany. Ha
Anyway, what happened? Gimme the whole dirty story :)
Comcast...or as we call it here. Comcrap.
No other choice for where we live, when another company comes out this way (middle of no where) we will be changing.
Speaking of great post titles! ;-)
I hate comcast. My own connection has been CRAP for the past month, I NO I haven't called yet, because I'm using all that free time I have to just lie around in my underwear and eat grapes.
Idiots.
Hee hee! That's funny (funny 'cause it didn't happen to me of course).
I hear people saying they hate Comcast all the time. Maybe I'm just supa lucky, but I've never received bad service from them here in Atlanta.
@Melisa/Kat: I am pretty sure J.C. picked her jaw up off the floor, put down the cable box & left. Honestly, we were too busy laughing at the ridiculousness of it that I didn't even bother to ask what happened afterwards.
@Lotus/Sauntering: I have Comcast, too-- and I haven't had any problems with it here in Chicago... but my parents have it in TN and they can't stand it. I guess it depends on where you're livin'.
Jules, revisit my bureaucracy post. Perfect societal equality is achieved since the most incompetent in our society control the desks.
I had Comcast for a few years and could tell a few bad stories about them. Then Time Warner bought them out in this are and my oh my I really I do miss Comcast! Be careful what you wish for!
Time Warner is the most absolute bunch of bumbling idiots I have ever come across. (and bear in mind my consulting business only exists to help correct idiocy, so I have seen a little!) In one e-mail I sent Time Warner about my continuing e-mail problems I actually told them they should ask someone over at Comcast to explain to them how to fix it.
Rob: HA!
oh lord. some people are just too busy to be kind and use common sense in business transactions...She probably wishes that someone would automate her so she'd never have to talk again.
LOL! Two months and every day after?
LOL!
My children......please be understanding of Comcast, for it is biblical. Yes, that is correct! Comcast is BIBLICAL!
Why IS it BIBLICAL you ask?? Well, it just HAS to be...because it SUCKETH!
@anonymous: I wish you had revealed your identity if only so I could tell you by name that "you" made me laugh my ass off with that whole sucketh thing!
Anonymous is cracking me up!
Customer service is the gateway to hell. We don't have Comcast but Bright House can choke on a cable wire.
I like "Comcrap". This post really made me laugh...so funny, so true!
