Don't miss the xylophone cameo!
"Relax when you see me, check it when you see me. I'm chillin' with an iced tea, watermelon icees." {wink}
*What?! I'm VERY MUCH musically-inclined.

Happy birthday to the Swedish hotness that is Alexander Skarsgård!
True Blood's Eric Northman in my bathtub? Yes, please!
If you aren't watching HBO's True Blood, WHY AREN'T YOU WATCHING HBO'S TRUE BLOOD? Not having HBO isn't an excuse. I don't have HBO, but I watch it (and drool) every week. Here's the main reason, which I'd use as my defense in court if I had to:
Now, if you'll excuse me? I need a moment.

The fitness industry sure has changed in the past 55 years, hasn't it? Back in ye olden days, girls in the know would go off to a resort in the woods with their families and burn off all that chicken-fried steak by lugging around watermelons and grinding with the bad-boy dance instructors:
Yes Baby, you carried a watermelon (:22). But wait, because what's about to happen is going to make it worth your while (1:02).
Jump ahead in history to now and hey, welcome to the future! You can forget all that weighty produce schelpping to the "hired help" side of camp and simply pop in this DVD:
What in the cha-cha hell did Patrick Swayze do to deserve this?
I think my favorite line from the commercial is, "Show off your new dance moves with the sensational cardio dance that's got Baby on her feet..." The only thing I'd add to that is, "...and off her back!". Hey-ohhhhh! Let's face it, Johnny got something else up in that movie besides Baby's heart rate.
Since I saw the commercial at 4a.m., I couldn't believe my eyes. I checked Amazon and was surprised that this DVD has been purchased and reviewed by more than one person. My favorite write-up:
Some Amazon reviewers are SO HELPFUL!
I guess nobody puts Baby's background dancers in the corner, either.

I just wrote something in the comments at Suburban Bliss, and thought you'd get a better understanding of who I am in real life by reading it for yourself. So, I tweaked it a bit to make the following blog post out of it. Why didn't I think to do this kind of thing during NaBloPoMo? Sadly, there's more awkward interaction stories where this came from. Maybe it'll be a running theme, sharing my most uncomfortable moments. Feel free to share yours here in the comments.
There should be an award for awkward interactions, and I say that because I have earned a shelf-full of these as yet non-existent gold statues.
Like the time I was working as a consultant (freelance, but on-site) graphic designer and the project manager was HOT in that tall, athletic, handsome, and built to win Darwin's survival of the fittest kind of ways. You know, if you're into that. He was also really friendly, which made it even easier to spend many hours thinking of all the terribly inappropriate things that could happen between two people in an office situation. BAD ME!
One day the firm closed early because there was a major, shut-down-the-roadways snowstorm. I had only been at the design firm for 3 weeks of my 3 month stint, and just before everyone left, a bunch of us were looking out the huge picture window to see how the traffic was. The drool-worthy project manager was walking in the room as a few of us were walking out, and had his arms outstretched.
I failed to notice that he was doing some kind of stretching thing until the millisecond AFTER I went in for a big hug.
Luckily he was totally cool and busted my chops about it all the way out to the parking lot. After I pulled away in my car, I alternated between laughing and crying for the next 3 hours as I was stuck in traffic.
Good times.

You already know how deep my love is for Javier Bardem, so I was bummed that I missed seeing Vicky Cristina Barcelona before it left the theaters. Even though it also starred my nemesis Fishface, any opportunity to see Javier on the big screen is an opportunity I try to take advantage of.
A friend of mine works in PR, handling publicity and promotions for big-time events that deal with music and movie glitterati: Film festivals, movie openings, interviews... that kind of thing. She sent me this email at the end of July, just before VCB was released:
Just had to share this e-mail with you Jules, as a fellow Javier worshipper:

Let your imagination run wild regarding what you might do in 20 minutes with Javier Bardem. Remember that game we used to play in the basement called “7 minutes in heaven”?

Teri Hatcher, Teri Hatcher... this is some really great advice for your 10-year-old! You've obviously put in a full day, sweetie, so why don't you settle in for a little nap and store some of that energy for tomorrow?!

Recently I did the idiotic thing of attempting a Tae Bo workout and it about killed me DEAD. I remembered why I stopped using that particular DVD a couple of years ago as soon as the music came on. Billy Blanks is, I'm convinced, from hell.
Having said that, the other day I read a rumor that Nintendo Wii might come out with a new fitness game; "Carmen Electra's Pole Dancing". I laughed for about 2 minutes before I actually started wondering when it's coming out.
I'm not sure what that says on the state of my current fitness goals.
The polar opposite of Tae Bo; Carmen teaches Ellen the easiest workout ever, besides napping.
