The Doctor Is In!

Late last night, I found out about Swatch's "Dr. Swatch" promotion:

Visit your local Swatch store for a complimentary Swatch checkup from the Swatch Docs.
During the Dr. Swatch event at Swatch, the Swatch Docs will perform:
Free battery changes • Free strap adjustments • Free buffing

I have an original red POP Swatch (that I bought with my own money thankyouverymuch and another regular Swatch from '89. It still smells like my high school boyfriend's cologne, which sounds weirder than it actually is. When we started dating, I wore his football jacket, his class ring AND HIS SWATCH WATCH. When we broke up, I gave back the first 2 and kept the watch. Oh yes, I did. I knew what time it was, if you know what I'm saying & I think you do.

I've had these Swatches tucked away in the place I have all of my other watches & jewelry (which there isn't much left of after an apartment break-in 10 years ago out east, which is another story for another day) and haven't taken them out of their little boxes in EONS. That is, not until very late last night, as I was squealing with excitement. I've wanted to revive my POP Swatch for awhile, but always found a better use for the $15 battery cost.

My procrastination in this case is paying off! Free batteries, free band adjustments & free buffing! Heading out the door now. I'll post an update with pictures later!

Today is the last day for this promotion, so if you have Swatches tucked away somewhere, break those mothereffers out and take them to Dr. Swatch!

I'll let you figure out who is who

"BREAKING NEWS: What's Next for Oprah & You?"

If I had to guess, I'd say that one of us will continue living life as a billionaire and the other one will continue wondering why her dreams of getting tickets to the other one's "Favorite Things" show never came true.

Viva la Free Download, Part 3!

Today Coldplay is offering their live album, Left Right Left Right Left as a free download!

Get it HERE! It might take more than one try to even load the page since the whole world is attempting to get it from the same link. Took me about 10 tries, but it's SO worth it!

Freedom isn't free, but this other stuff is!

The I VOTED! sticker will get you lots of free swag on Tuesday:

Doughnuts! Krispy Kreme is giving away free star-shaped donuts with red, white, and blue sprinkles.

Ice Cream! Ben & Jerry's is giving away free scoops of ice cream from 5-8pm.

Discounted Clothes! French Connection is giving 15% off with proof you voted.

Tunage! Download Wilco's cover of Bob Dylan's song I Shall be Released. I was going to write something about how this is a fitting song to play after you pick up your freebie from Babeland (see below), but I'm a lady.

Caffeine Buzz! Starbucks will give you one free tall cup of brewed coffee, but you probably have to say "Venti" because they don't like it when you speak English.

Another kind of Buzz! New York, LA & Seattle voters win, because Babeland is giving men who voted a Maverick sleeve (one can only hope it doesn't say, "My Friends!" at any point in the process) and women a Silver Bullet. If you don't know what either of those things are, I don't recommend Googling them while at work. The Babeland promotion goes through November 11, but who's gonna wait that long, really?

All I need to know now is if Energizer is giving away free batteries.

Viva la Free Download, Part 2

Last Tuesday, I posted that I got the new Nine Inch Nails single for free through their official website; which by the time I wrote about was no longer available. However, in that same post I tried to make things better between us by letting you know that Coldplay was ALSO giving away their new single for free. Although it was only offered for a short time, I know several of you were able to take advantage of the band's generosity, so yay for you us!

As of today, those of you who missed getting NIN's new single as a free download can now stop sending me angry e-mails, and here's why: NIN IS GIVING AWAY THEIR ENTIRE NEW ALBUM, THE SLIP, FOR FREE! So, take that, angry e-mailers!

Click HERE to get The Slip in the file format of your choice. That Trent Reznor sure is an accommodating fellow.

In general and as proven by my "I Just Listened To..." section in the right sidebar; my musical taste can be described as maddeningly eclectic and sometimes impossible to predict (even for those who know me best); but I DO know what I like. NIN albums have always been hit or miss for me, either I really like a track or I equate it to a specific kind of torture which involves being forced to listen while someone rips styrofoam slowly and mercilessly inside of my brain. This album is no different. I consider the styrofoam tracks to be numbers 3 ("Letting You") and 10 ("Demon Seed"); and I won't be listening to THOSE ever again if I can help it. There are 8 other tracks on this album though, and those have already been thrown into my current rotation.

For the record, my favorites on The Slip are the sonically polar opposite 1,000,000 and Lights in the Sky (with their new single, Discipline coming in at 3rd!). Thanks for the free tunes, NIN!

Viva la Free Download!

Last week I got Nine Inch Nail's latest single as a free download through the official NIN website. Today, and today only, Coldplay is offering the new single, Violet Hill, for free as well. Get it HERE, under "song". I hope more artists continue this trend.
